This Christmas story grew out of a wonderful holiday we had with the girls in Singapore in August 2013. We loved our time together at Lansom Place and the joy of that experience is captured here. The skate boarders in Somerset Park and the red butted baboons at the zoo are real enough; so too is the rich cultural diversity of the island Republic.
I have borrowed the police lieutenant, Bharath Vaanam, straight from Tamil action movies. He’s a very big star, apparently, and I hope he forgives his appearance here as the slightly camp foil to the vengeful Magistrate Fang. I love the little boys whom Father Christmas rescues and Katie’s heroic trek across the city, pushing Mr Ibrahim Kampong in his wheel chair so that he can give his evidence in court.
